I don't know what dates you are looking at yet, but I went on www.hotels.com and plugged in some arbitrary June dates in Chandler... got a lot of hits that look pretty reasonable, in motels that are in the southwest part of Chandler so they are close to the freeway to go down to Casa Grande if you want, and it's an easy drive to go look around Gilbert. Those locations are also convenient to the airport.

Gilbert really doesn't have any motels... I did the same thing for Gilbert, and got mostly hits in Mesa.

Casa Grande has some nice, brand new extended stay type hotels that run around $59 per night. They include a small kitchenette as well, which can be beneficial if you're on a budget.

However, keep in mind that Casa Grande is about an hour from Chandler/Gilbert, so before you book in CG, make sure you really want to be there!

That's why I don't think you want to go looking around from a base in Casa Grande, unless you are going to drive down to Tucson. Then maybe it would be okay. But, there are extended stays in the Chandler area by the fwy.
