Shame on those roaches! Don't they know Scottsdale is an exclusive community and they are not wanted? LOL

It's too early, guess they are coming sooner than expected. I would love to hear some suggestions too Everytime I look at them dead or alive it kills my appetite for a month!

I use bleach too but it only kills a small percentage.

One time I was watching tv and 1 crawled up my arm!!!!

Ohhhh, I want to come visit you! I'll do just about anything to kill my appetite for a month or so! Leave it to me to gain weight just before an AZ summer. Grr....

I'll bring my dogs; they love to eat bugs!!! You get bug removal, I lose my appetite. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I want to thank you all for your replies. I tried to log in the other day and got frozen out.

Special thanks to Ponderosa, for taking the time to clue me in as to how a dishwasher works. The point about keeping the door shut was most appreciated.

Yes, sewer roaches are disgusting. I called the City of Scottsdale, FWIW, and flushing the water has nothing to do with roaches, as roaches live in the sewer and not the main water supply, as an FYI. Thanks all!

Scottsdale gets a bum rap.

Honestly, I like my neighborhood as it's quiet. Apart from this, it's just like any other place, albeit maybe a bit more insulated from crime (knock on wood).

Interesting information about "flushing the water system has nothing to do with it." My "luxury complex" manager is such a liar! Same sob story when the roaches flood the complexes and most residents are complaining. Did they tell you what really causes the roach population?

Scottsdale gets a bum rap for this because the city and all the realtors and property management claims the places are "luxury" increasing the prices but what they do not mention is the roaches!

I always thought Scottsdale had a scorpion problem too.

Scorpions are a must in Scottsdale. There's a lot of mountains and the more expensive the condos and homes are - Greyhawk community, the more scorpions you have.

I had a friend in Ahwatukee and she was so used to scorpions she used to go outside and pick them up and throw them off her property...That's gross. I lived all over Phoenix in 19 years and I have never seen one. I guess I was lucky.

I have a friend that lives in Glendale - when she comes in at night - she looks for the scorpions and places them in jars with ammonia....
she says it has become her hobby...daily entertainment - but remember we are building and tearing up the desert land that these creatures have lived on for billions of years - and we are trying to displace them "quickly" with a back hoe when we decide to build a home on it - coyotes, rattlers, prairie dogs, whatever...
It will take centuries for these creatures of habitat to relocate themselves - we are as strange to them as they are to us...
so we must comingle until then....

Question I have the willies...

I am fairly new to West Phx, coming from outside Buffalo, NY. We don't have roaches of any kind there. The ones here are big enough to carry be back to NY. I don't know where they are coming from, I dont know how something as big as a Volkswagon car gets under or in cracks. I dont know what to do, period. I spray, gallons of the stuff, need to take stock in the RAID company. If there is anyone out there that has any ideas for me, my nervous system will take you to lunch. I am not a neat freak, but i am not dirty either. I thought that they were found in messy homes, not mine, but I am sure wrong!
Please.....I still have suitcases packed, thinking about heading back to the snow, no roaches there!
Sabra
