You might consider a pest control company, they'll definitely take care of the problem. I've been using Phoenix Pest Control, who come out every 4 months and treat both the inside of the house and the yards, and I've never seen one single roach.

A good way to get the boric acid where it needs to be is to sprinkle it well, all over a sheet of paper. Slide the paper carefully, so that the powder doesn't clump together, underneath the dish washer, the refrigerator, and the stove. For all cupboards and underneath the sink, I would pour a line of boric acid all around the back and along the side walls. you want ample areas w/ boric acid so that the roaches will walk through it, as that's how they get it on themselves and later die. Phx roaches are huge and nasty!!!!!!! For glasses and dishes in the cupboards, I put down paper towels and then put the dishes and glasses in upside down, since I didn't fancy the idea of roaches crawling over and inside my dishes. Yuk, yuk! Good luck.

Default The things they dont tell you about ARIZONA

1. Cockroaches big as ... well 2-3 inches and fat...."oriental/japanese cockroaches.....I was raised in Detroit and my Mom taught me that if you saw a roach you were a filthy individual, your housekeeping skills were awful ...well in Arizona if you dont have a pest company you have roaches no matter how clean you are.....
You will need a pest company its an added expense of $30.00 bimonthly
2. Brown recluse spiders, causes your flesh to be eaten away after bitten
3. Wolf Spiders these are actually ok, eats everything else you want these but still has a painful bite, if bitten.
4. Black Widow Spiders, I have never seen any until I moved to AZ, then saw the white sacs with the thousands of babies in them. get a pesticide service
5. Scorpions have not seen any of these yet ...I must be spraying a lot of pesticides...

I will die of pesticides before I die of a spider bite...lol nothing walks or moves in my house but me. I am sure of it....I have the outside and inside sprayed bimonthly.
6. its hot but just pretend its winter in michigan and stay indoors until its cool enough to come outside. works for me....no snow no shoveling or snowblowing, no people driving 90 on blackice but in AZ people driving 100 on switchbacks...so stupidity is everywhere, there is no cornering the market on stupidity, .....humidity...well I am from Michigan...its humid in michigan...so I am use to that.....In AZ I would rather it rain (monsoon) and be through than be in Michigan where it stays cloudy and dreary all day and rains all day, lately all week.....however today is a great michigan day here in michigan...but I miss my spiders in AZ lol

Talking spiders

Hi come back we miss you. I am from Michigan too. I lived in Southfield 11 mile road and inkster rd. I never saw giant roaches until I moved her. I am in Arrowhead now no roach problems. I still love AZ

I did live in another house in Glendale near the new stadium, we had so many roaches on the patio and black widows nest. The only thing I miss back in Michigan is the baby deers coming to my door at night

Default What they don't tell you....

I had to laugh at this post. I am currently living in Southwest Florida and I have lived most of my life in Florida. I plan to move to the Phoenix/Tempe area in about 6 months.

Everything Tina3219 said about Zona is also the same for Florida. We have all kinds of nasty spiders: brown recluse (nasty!), wolf (ugly), and black widow (scary). Our scorpions are smaller version but annoying just the same.

Our cockroaches will take you out and buy you dinner. We're don't always call them cockroaches because it's bad for tourism. So even our cockroaches are called palmetto bugs. And ours fly. Woo-hoo!

You can get a pest control company for $30/bimonthly? Ours works out to about $30 a month! Can't wait to get to Zona!!

Boric Acid is the correct answer. Having lived in west Texas most my life where those things didn't exist, then moving to Houston I fairly freaked over the little critters. Then I found the little yellow box of Johnson's Roach Tablets (boric acid). I pitched them under the sink, behind the stove, along the cracks in the cabinets and after a short while, no roaches.

Now to tell probly the most disgusting experience in my life. At age fourteen, dad took a job with NASA in Houston (1963). We arrived New Year's day with NO arranged housing so parents took a first available house in South Houston. After the weather starting warming up, I had seen a couple of the little bastards but didn't pay much mind to them. Then....

...one night I woke up to something 'pest'ering me. Got out of bed, turned on the light and a dozen of those little *%&#^%) crawling on my bed, the wall, the ceiling.... Not a good way to start a relationship. And the damned shotgun was still packed away....

I have seen a few more roaches around my house than usual. My pest guy was just out today and although they dont flush the water lines, periodically they flush the sewer drains with pesticides and thats when the creepies come out. Apparently- they have been doing it over the past few weeks and thats why homeowners are seeing more roaches.

We had an ongoing problem with this when I lived in Illinois. Evidently, our sewer pipes were not layed evenly, so we always had some sewer stuff sitting in the pipes- attracting the roaches.
