I've heard Great Wall Cuisine on W. Camelback is awesome, though you'll want to get your AZ Concealed Weapon Permit and pack heat before heading to that part of town! (Seriously!)
I love Flo's though it's far from authentic. It's very Americanized. |

Rumba's has really good rice bowls. It's Hawaiian-type foods but kinda Asian-y. I think their bowls are de-lish!

I am a fan of the chains, Peiwei or PF Changs. But for good authentic asian go to Cofco Center on 44th and 202 or Northwest corner of Warner and Alma School in Chandler.

Ok-- it appears I have found a decent fast food Japanese place! It's called Yogi's Grill, in a newly constructed shopping center called "Grove Towne Center" east of Alma School & Grove in Mesa (across the street from the Fiesta Mall, just south of the Bank of America building). Your typical Americanized Japanese fare, but executed very well. Modern decor (unlike those 1970s style monstrosities Tokyo Express and Kyoto [H]ole with the wood benches and the artificial plants), very clean, tastes good, food is fresh and cooked to order. So far I haven't found anything better in Phoenix.

Oh darn, I wish I would have tried it before I left. That area scares me but I may have have risked it. |

For Vietnamese, there's Saigon Pho at Alma School and Knox (1/2 mile south of Warner), Dragonfly Cafe on the northwest corner of Dobson and Southern (the service is lacking but the food is good), and another place on the north side of Southern between Dobson and Alma School.
I usually got my katsudon fix from the L&L and Ono hawaiian BBQs in the area. There's also Tokyo Stop on the southeast corner of Priest and University. (Also try the bentos at Fujiya Market right next door.) For sushi, I like the Temari Fine Japanese Cuisine on the northeast corner of Val Vista and Guadalupe, although many people seem to disagree with me, and the service again is lacking. I do not like RA for sushi, they use WAY too much wasabi. That Phoenix Palace Buffet next to Lee-Lee is pretty good. I think I like them just a little bit more than Hong Kong Gourmet Buffet. Right across Warner is Lee's Sandwiches, an inexpensive and very popular place with Vietnamese baguette sandwiches and French pastries. There was an Arisoo Korean BBQ on Arizona Avenue and Elliot or Guadalupe in Chandler that was very good, but I guess they moved to Alma School? |

Do they do it Asian Style like in LA? They bring out super huge portions and everyone at the table shares the meal? Usually starting off with some Wanton Soup.

ibarrio... I haven't been to an Asian restuarant like that in AZ, but I know what you're talking about. They had one in Palm Springs.

There are several in the Chinese Cultural Center ... it's off of 202 on 44th ST or something. I just moved to the area so I don't know the roads too well! |
