Those who are staying yet hating this city is not making anyone's life any easier! Think about it, if you hate this city and living here seems like a punishment then it is quite likely that you are making the lives of those who interact with you more difficult as well!

When and If, I really get sick of this city, or of any city for that matter, I will seek better luck else where instead.

On the way out, don't let the cacti hit you where the good Lord split you...

Love, peace and chicken grease!
Very well stated: I left Wash DC back in 1978; despite my being born/raised there, the place was never 'home' so I rectified that problem by splitting from that scene @ age 20

I can't imagine living in a city I HATED, complaining about it, deriding it, saying woe is me because I'm so miserable in this city....then continue to live in that city.

A poster on another thread (where people that like Phx were messaging) said that in his opinion Phx was a "dirt hole". He has lived here 5 years! He hates it here.

I've lived in places I didn't like too much and I moved. I don't get the negative comments, the whining, the bitterness. It your life, you are responsible for your own happiness. Move if you hate it, stay if you like it. By all means keep posting about your misery if you choose to stay, the boards are a free for all....but don't for one second think that your unhappiness is this city's fault.

And for all of you sad sacks that say you are trapped by the real estate mrkt...you should make some better choices next time you buy real estate. I've sold a house and not made too much money in an area (Portland) that I didn't care for, and I'm glad I did. Life is too short to not take charge of your own happiness/wellbeing because you are going to take a small financial hit.

What's even more bizarre is the fact that the most vocal Phoenix haters on this website don't even live here. It must be a rather sad existence to be obsessing over and hating a place you left behind. Most sane individuals would just say "it wasn't for me" and move on. It's just not mentally healthy behavior to rant daily and attack people who don't share your hatred and dark fantasies about the supposedly apocalyptic future of Phoenix.

I like to compare our dry heat with convection oven. You know what I hate? I hate how your potato chips stay crispy after the bag was left open for 2 days. I hate that all summer long we have tons of neighbor kids at our house swimming in our back yard playing guitar hero and drinking all my koolaid LOL

why do you guys keep responding to the negative post? you must be getting something out of it. I don't really care for Phoenix, but, I am not making people around me miserable etc etc, fact I am an asset because I am a curteous driver, I let people over when they signal or try and squeeze in, I stop a few feet back so someone can exit a gas station when its heavy traffic moving slow, whats a second of my time to help them on thier way? yall could use a (lot) more drivers like me, IF I SAY SO MYSELF. in closeing, if you hate negative post, don't respnd to them.

Like the red part! It's funny! As far as the rest... too much generalization and cockiness. Sorry, but every individual's circumstances are different. Not all people can pick up and leave as they please.

Yeah, well... cocky frequently equals funny... Know about this trouble from personal experience... If you like funny, you often find yourself in this predicament. Seems like certain qualities always go hand in hand, unfortunately.

But the Phoenix haters who have said they have a right to express their opinions are 100% correct. Have at it. I hope the contributors to this thread can stay focused on the negative aspects of the city and surrounding communities and not cloud the discussion with rosy, optimistic, happy thoughts. I have no intentions of interjecting any defensive comments.

I hope the moderators will not delete this thread. There are so many negative comments throughout this forum that I seriously think it would be beneficial to have one thread for prospective residents to come to and find out all there is to dislike about this soulless, barren wasteland .
I totally agree with you. I miss Phoenix, myself. I used to live there, in the first 4 years I had been in Arizona. I had better jobs there, better bars/pub/nightclubs, a lot more to do there, a water park to go swimming, and just the diverse of ethics, creeds, and colors of people. I miss it verymuch.

I now live in Prescott (for 3 years now) and this place is for the soulless, toothless, dumb, and ignorant "rednecks". It's nothing but rednecks here. I hate it very much! No job opportunities, the bars/pubs suck (even the bartenders are ugly or have an attitude problem), only 1 mall (and it's very small), and the majority are only white, blonde, and don't take showers (at least the ones I've seen all the time).

So, take my word: PHOENIX is the best in Arizona....

Prescott is that way?

I will have to take your word for that-------the City of Prescott I have seen is pretty, upscale and with lots of amenities for the size of town.
