I just hate not having to learn how to drive in the snow. I really got the short end of the stick growing up in Phoenix.

And another thing, how much muscle mass did I miss out on while growing up because I never got to shovel snow off our driveways? What a ripoff.

Yeah, if you're up the hill in Prescott. But it's just what I've seen is my opinion of the majority of people here.

Default Goodyear AZ, tell me about it please

I am looking to come to Goodyear AZ on a 13 week RN assignment. What is it like there? Will I like it? Crime rate? Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Also, is there a nice, clean, gated, safe RV park in the vicininty? Thank you!

The city is creeping toward Goodyear, but it's still pretty far out there. My mother in law lives out there and it's pretty isolated and empty looking. There are some big box stores out there, if you like that sort of thing, and you will get some fantastic mountain and sunset views. I guess whether or not you will like it depends on whether you want city or rural life. If you like quiet desert suburbia, it might be ideal. I would guess that there are some RV parks out there, since Goodyear has been around for a long time, but I have no idea if there are any safe or clean ones. You might be able to find a rental house for not too much, since it's not on the side of town that has the highest property values...yet. Man, I remember when Goodyear seemed closer to LA than Phoenix (I'm an east valley girl). Not anymore.

If you have 3/4 inch or smaller landscaping rock in your front yard, you can do the "snow" angel thing there... That'll toughen you up, live2hover!

It's a myth that Goodyear is "out there". It's less than 20 miles from downtown Phoenix which makes it close in compared to many east Valley towns. Anyway, there are two RV parks of note. One is Destiny at Citrus just south of I-10 and the other is at Cotton Lane and I-10. The Cotton Lane one is a 55+ snowbird place and the Destiny RV resort is also a popular snowbird roost but I think open to all ages. The Cotton Lane RV does have an overnight area that is not age restricted. Both are fenced, neither are gated nor need to be.

Goodyear is a low-crime, affluent suburb with just about every shopping name you can imagine. It is one of the fastest growing areas in the US. I can't believe how anyone would call it isolated or rural unless they need to visit their mother-in-law more often .

Please explain: my post was positive

Oops. My bad. She actually lives in Buckeye, not Goodyear. I can't afford the gas it takes to get out there, unfortunately (I live in Gilbert), and going out there means I'd have to bring my 11 month old, which is a huge task Yeah, I'm lazy. She comes over here often enough though (every couple of weeks for 3 days at a time!)

Anyway, yeah, Goodyear is a lot less rural than Buckeye.
