WHY I HATE PHOENIX! Or is it Feeniks? (Scottsdale, Tempe: highrise, transplants)

Phoenix is a joke. Mainly the people, what a bunch of phonies! If they have a problem with you they don't have the balls to come to your face and say so, pussies. Everyone here is on meth or alchoholics. Ignorant, racist rednecks. I mean there's that everywhere but where else do you see gang bangers fighting on Martin Luther Kings Day? People here really lack common sense and have no street smarts whatsoever! And no culture, I've been here for 15 years, I'm not into drinking, certainly not into sports or ****ing NASCAR, so no I don't fit in with these people. The school system is horrible, I'm lucky that my daughter has the intelligence to be in the top 5 percentile of her class. I've had enough of the south, I'm moving back east where there is culture, and decent human beings.

Come to Scottsdale! We're friendly and we have culture, it's clean and there is a ton of stuff to do! I agree, I'm not crazy about Phoenix either. There are a few places I think are nice, but the overwhelming majority of Phoenix and it's surrounding areas are (to me) very low class (uneducated) and sloppy.

I seriously wonder where you live that you're surrounded by alcoholic, nascar loving, redneck racist meth addicts. That doesn't sound like anywhere I've lived in the Phoenix area.

I agree that the majority of Phoenix and its people, not all, is low class. Very materialistic, ignorant, and no eye on the future. I think it's the polar opposite of New England.

Once in a Blue Moon I end up generalizing people but each day passing, I realize how wrong that is.

Have you met everyone in Phoenix area artvandelay? Have you had the chance to converse on serious topics and had the chance to analyze their personalities? Generalizing everyone in a city in such a derogatory way is simply wrong even what you stated is -for the most part- accurate.
For the sake of cool people I meet even through this forum (only a few), I could not say everyone was this or that.

Believe me, I know the type of people you were describing but unfortunately, they are everywhere.
I dispute these type of ugly comments about the people of a city/state/country based on personal opinions or experiences...if you really don't like it that much, then please leave! If you can't leave then join 'em!

As to the previous comment about Phoenicians being "pussies" and "have no balls"? What can I say? Except, I'd be more than happy to represent the residents of Phoenix. Anytime, anywhere, junior. BTW, Phoenix, Arizona is NOT the south. It's the southwest. Beyond latitude, any similarity between the two is non-existent. A person who doesn't fit in here because they aren't into sports among other things...here's a flash; sports fans are everywhere.

Being an "ignorant, racist redneck", maybe I missed something here, but after spewing a paragraph full of inaccurate hateful insults, the poster says they want to move back east to be among "decent" people. Based on the comments, the poster won't fit in with them, either. I'll acknowledge one thing though. If the daughter is intelligent, she is extremely lucky.

Well, I, for one, am sorry you feel that way. Also, you are totally mistaken about those of us who were born and raised in the Valley. We care very much about our area - and our state.

What we do resent, highly, is people, such as yourself, coming from other regions and a) trying to make AZ the same as "back home" and b) complaining about how we are not "like in New England" etc.

Arizona is Arizona - not New England. We believe in self reliance - not reliance on the government as New Englanders do. We believe in wide open spaces - not crowded high rises.
