Have you met everyone in Phoenix area artvandelay? Have you had the chance to converse on serious topics and had the chance to analyze their personalities? Generalizing everyone in a city in such a derogatory way is simply wrong even what you stated is -for the most part- accurate.
For the sake of cool people I meet even through this forum (only a few), I could not say everyone was this or that.

Believe me, I know the type of people you were describing but unfortunately, they are everywhere.
I dispute these type of ugly comments about the people of a city/state/country based on personal opinions or experiences...if you really don't like it that much, then please leave! If you can't leave then join 'em!
Didn't you see my comment ", NOT ALL". Generalizing about real experiences is quite useful, and I wouldn't make that statement out of speculation. I call em like I see em. Of course I haven't met everyone in Phoenix, and many I have met I respect immensely. I'm basing my comment on what I see day to day in various parts of the valley. People are all different, but when you take a larger view, you get some idea of the population and its behaviors.

I appreciate the differences of Arizona in many respects. The things I wish were more like "back home" or anywhere for that matter, are:

Citizens AND legal residents who respect each other.

Self-reliance to a point: when illegals and selfish people don't care about their fellow man, everyone suffers. When witnesses to crime don't come forward because of legal status or too much self-reliance, everyone suffers.

Many other places provide a sense of pride, community, and connectedness that many transplants would like to have here. It's not about highrises or restaurants, it's about being a community that cares about one another to a degree. I don't want Arizona to be New England, just neighbors and people who care about more than their stuff.

Just out of curiosity, what part of the valley do you live in ? I suspect you live in a new development with a fair amount of illegal residents and crime. There are many established neighborhoods in the Valley that don't suffer from the shortcomings your's obviously does. Don't assume that your experience is typical.

Nahh Phoenix offers excellent quality of life for regular folks as opossed to a chosen few.

Souless - that would be Dallas.
Lifeless and dismal - that would be Seattle.
Empty - that would be Denver.
Completely useless - that would be San Francisco.

Phoenix Arizona is OZ to me the best!!!

Patrick, I live in Avondale on the border of Goodyear. Much that I like about the area, much that I don't. The west and south valley are mostly ghetto. That's about half the valley. I work, shop, and visit most of the rest of the valley. I must admit I haven't experienced much of PV, Scottsdale, and Tempe.

I understand the west valley is lower class as a whole, but I'm basing my experience on all those places I've been, not just where I live.

How so? I do not see this behavior pattern being civil or useful when the person in question sounds negative and cynical in disposition about the topic on hand.

You wouldn't make them out of speculation, you say then continue on to say you call em like you see them? That sounds a bit contradictory to me.

Many you met, you respect immensely yet those many you respect immensely still didn't factor in when you generalize an entire city/state in such a negative way....contradictory statement #2.

People are indeed different and each has its own opinion and thought so don't you go around using the term "larger view" when its your own opinion that you are stating!

Again, I am not here to pick on you or defend PHX/AZ or the half-wits that may be residing here (and we know this city is no exception, it has its share of circus freaks, I know) but I am just tired of unjustly evaluating and judging an entire city/state based on your/my own experiences...no city is heaven, no city is immune to problems or 'undesirable' people.

note: undesirable above is the wildcard word where it could mean a different thing to different people for whatever reasons.

Not to preach but one thing for sure, negativity and hatred will not make this world a better, nicer place.

Love, peace and chicken grease!
