I like smackin' tweakers.

Ya know, the kind that approach you at 5:00am whike you're pumpin' gas on the way to work?

Tweaker, with eyes bulging out and shaky hands:

"Excuse me sir, could I "borrow" a couple of dollars so I can send my daughter to the hospital for an operation"?

SMACK!

Tweaker, with an unsurprised look: "Well, how about just a dollar"?

SMACK!

Much better than Detroit.

Gawd, I love it here.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Today I learned there have been 60 deaths in his jail system since 2004, 47 of which have resulted in lawsuits. Guess who pays for these lawsuits? The taxpayers to defend this "person." He puts DUI offenders in with murderers. There was one guy and two detention officers knew they were killing him and one said the F word and the other said the S word as they continued to kill the guy.

There are freaking cameras on almost every corner in my neighborhood. I feel like I live in a police state here (and to be fair, this is Scottsdale, not Phoenix).

To top it off, nothing is within walking distance (for me) and, even if I were to do this and walk miles, I am next to six lanes of fast-moving cars the whole way.

Ok, my input for the day. After all, someone has to keep this thread going.

In all fairness: I suspect that any large metro area has its share of 'dirty laundry'. I have heard horror stories about Cook County, Ill (Chicago) as well as New Orleans, Los Angeles, NYC, etc. Another cesspool is Wash DC east of Rock Creek Park.

Movin' On is quite right in regard to Arpaio. He is an embarrasment to AZ. I truly believe that if people really knew what was going on they would be outraged.
The MCSO has had more lawsuits against it then ANY other law enforcement agency in the US including LA, NYC and DC.
Over 40 million has already been paid out in settlements and that does not include the cost of defending the county in these and other cases.

My heart goes out to you Movin', being that somebody held a gun to your head and forced you to move to sandy, hot Phoenix where nothing is within walking distance. In a free country you'd think that a person could just live wherever they like and relocate to a place where things ARE within walking distance.

Heh. Well, really, there's a problem with tweakers everywhere. It's too bad we can't just open hunting season for tweakers. You know, get a little target practice in and keep your aim sharp.

Yeah, well when people ask me why I moved here I say mental illness, then I get this funny look. They don't know quite what to say.

Inasmuch as you chose to move to the Valley, you can also choose to move away from the Valley.

The reason this in so interesting is, this is the Department that Joe's Opponent in the race, was Police Chief of, until this past week.

Seems the former Chiefs officers like Arpaio better -
