Well, we had that thread that read all about the traffic cameras and all the negativity and all. Now I wonder if they are ever going to disappear, as Long Island, New York is installing traffic cameras and guess who is installing them in late July? Yup, you guessed it, the same company in Scottsdale, Arizona who installed them all over the Phoenix area it said in Newsday! Just wait to the New Yorkers who speed like nobody's business get a peak at these ........whoa. My sister who lives in Potomac, Maryland, has seen them going in all over Mongomery County as well. I think they are the wave of the future now. Man oh man..........I thought with all the talk on these threads about them being illegal, disappearing with the new budget, and causing so much trouble serving the summons and all, etc., they were going to be history. Guess not. It said in the article that they have generated such huge sources of income for Arizona, that now Nassau County, New York, thinks it will generate tons of income and help with all the deficits.

It's so simple that it's stupid.

A money grab....that's all it is.

EXCELLENT POINT, PhxBarb!

By the way, Arizona is far from "the leader" with the number of Red Light and Speed Cameras in the United States. Hopefully, there's more on the horizon.

I don't dislike or like the cameras...typically I don't like them when I want to go faster than the posted limit. However, they only take your picture if you are doing greater than 76mph on a freeway with a posted limit of 65mph. I generally like them because people do slow down, the accident rate and death rate on valley freeways has dipped dramatically since the commission of the cameras. Coincidence maybe, but I think there might be a connection. Anyhow, I don't have a reason to travel over 76mph within city limits since that is rather ridiculous and unnecessary.

That's because there's only one company who has the product, so they have a monopoly.
