Hey Tymike, sorry didn't check thread for a few days..............anyway, yes, born and bred on Long Island, New York. My husband's mom and sister live in Scottsdale. His brother in law is the VP of the Royal Palms Resort on Camelback, beautiful place. Anyway, they have moved around within the Scottsdale area for the last 20 years and we would make our twice a year visits out to see them both. Since then it would seem that we had so many friends and relatives who would come out to Arizona, fall in love with the mountains, weather, sunsets, and generally the whole area and then sell their home back east and move out there. We were the leaders in getting everyone started including my husband's mom who is a huge Brooklyn person, Italian through and through. Anyway, we could never get there ourselves due to being self employed and would have to start the whole business up again, brand new. Finally in the end of 2007, we bit the bullet and purchased a new home in North Peoria, just south of the Carefree Highway. With the housing boom, up to then they wouldn't allow us to purchase without having a business out there during the housing craziness and the lottery fiascos! My how things have changed. Would have loved to be in the Carefree/Cave Creek area, as it is our favorite area, with its raw wildness and gorgeous scenery, but it was a little out of our reach being we were purchasing a second home. Anyway, when we would visit, we would be the only ones of everyone who had now moved out there of our friends, who would venture out and really SEE the place other than the restaurants and strip malls, etc. We remember Scottsdale Road heading north when nothing was out there, just desert. Anyway, we always went horseback riding and hiking up in the Spur Cross Ranch area. I love going to the Buffalo Chip Saloon for a good old beer and some chicken wings and although not in Cave Creek we would often visit Greasewood Flats for some hamburgers and music sitting outside by the fire. Loved browsing around the "Dump" for a find or two and going to all the new shops that have sprouted up. The area all around the Boulders is so picturesque and beautiful, unlike any other area in the Phoenix zone with its boulders and topography. Simply beautiful. Because we don't have a Catholic Church YET, ha ha, in North Peoria where we have bought, we go to Our Lady of Joy up there. A beautiful church with very nice people. Last winter while we lived out there, we got a chance to go even more east and saw Barrett Lake and the ruins up there. Housing was out of this world. Beautiful. We've been looking in that area for land and housing from as far as I can remember, and maybe in a few years if our business takes off in Arizona (excited recently for all the activity we are having on that front, yeah) and we sell our New York home, we can then purchase up there and have a little bit more space, although I do love my new home, just doesn't have as much land as hubby would like and the wildness he prefers. Anyway, you are very lucky and I wish you all the best and hope you WILL LOVE it in your new locale! Best of luck to you and your family.............
