Talking Sun City West

Hello all,

I am a member of AST (Association for Surgical Technologists). I saw an add on the site for a surgical technologist through Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center. I am wondering if anyone can give me information on the area of Sun City West. What is the nearest city/town. Any information is welcome and could be helpful.

Thank you,
Michelle

Well, the nearest town other than Sun City or Sun City West would be either Peoria or Surprise. They'd both be relatively close, if you look at the northern part of Peoria.

Both Peoria (northern part) and Surprise would be great choices.

BTW, if I were a surg tech I'd be thanking you right now for finding me a job. I'm always hush hush when it comes to jobs, especially in this job market.

Sun City West and Sun City Grand are the more pricey communities in the north west valley. They both are age restricted, 45 If I am correct. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I have not seen a school in those communities. Age restricted??

Peoria and Surprise are both good places to live with children. Surprise is still growing, a lot of the infrastructure is still being put in place. Lower home prices in Surprise right now.

Good luck.

I did not mean that the OP should try to live in either of those places, or Sun City for that matter. She asked what the closest city was to the hospital, which technically is any of the Sun Cities, but I was actually directing her to Peoria or Surprise. I should have made that clearer.

Hospital is located in Sun City West. The next closest town to the hospital is Surprise (right across Grand Ave.) and not Sun City. Sun City and Peoria are little farther away.

Yep...Surprise is a good bet. I know this because I work for Banner and one of my co-workers is doing some work at Del E. Webb. She lives in Surprise and says Del is just 5 minutes from her house...she bought a house last year and got a great deal and loves the convenience of it. Banner is a nice company to work for; good benefits and one of the few companies that seems to be thriving in spite of the economy. One thing you might find interesting is that Del E. Webb will be in the process of implementing a new electronic medical records system(Cerner) throughout the hospital, starting August 1st...I'm quite fond of Cerner systems so I think this is a good thing. Sorry I don't have any scoop on the surgery dept specifically.
As for Surprise, my friend seems to like it, even though it is a long drive to anything in Central or East Valley Phoenix. She has a teenage daughter and seems to be happy enough with the schools and whatever modern accoutrements are available(shopping, movies, etc).
