In the Gilbert thread someone mentioned Ashton Woods wasn't a good choice. Can anyone elaborate? How about Standard Pacifc? We built a Beazer before and a Trend so I know what to expect with those builders. I know Shea is good too.

I'm debating...Help?

My parents own a Standard Pacific home in Surprise. They were really happy with the house, and the customer service post-purchase. I also think their floor plans are really smart and well laid out.

Hmm. I had always heard nothing but positive things about Ashton Woods. What was your issue with them?

We have only lived in our Ashton Woods Townhome for 4 months and have already begun contacting and interviewing attorneys. Does this tell you something's wrong? You Bet!

In 4 months they've been in our home about 13 times, you turn on a light and the smoke alarms go off. You try to use the bathroom and the pipes are frozen. Did I mention they just can't seem to clean up the construction site and there is hazardous snow and ice everywhere? I'm being held captive by their work schedules.

The smoke alarm would concern me...but can't you wrap your own pipes? Shovel your own snow? The issues seem rather petty for an attorney.

What part of Phoenix do you live in? I haven't seen too much snow or ice yet.
