I work in the same area-I am in the office tower adjacent to Fashion Square.
I live at Princess and Scottsdale. I just take Scottsdale all the way down. If you time the lights right, just enough time for a cigarette and a cup of coffee, say 15-20 minutes. But if you get snagged by the lights, a different story. The bonus to taking surface streets is even if you get backed up with an accident or something say, on this route you generally have 1 mile or less before you can over to some parallel street, depending how well you know the side streets. Accident on lower Scottsdale=I just take Hayden all the way up (and then just have to stop at Costco oh the punishment lol!). But you would also have to time in the drive to get to Scottsdale Rd from your home, so may not be the best route for you. Tho Greenway traffic is usually pretty light in the morning-but the horror is you'd be driving directly INTO the sun which isn't fun.
I tried coming up Tatum once. Probably the prettiest scenery for a drive home. But did take way too long.

your "detour" over to the 101 from Fashion Square and going way up and around to the 51 when heading home seems like it could be fast because of freeway speeds, but the drive over to it from Scotts Rd may negate that benefit
getting to the 51 via Camelback or Lincoln/Glendale seems way out of the way...you're actually going "past" 51/Greenway as you drive to the 16th St area to get on 51....
best thing is to time the various options...I'm actually curious what you find because I used to drive something similar to that...let me know

I am familiar with that 'secret' route as well

yeah, really cool to discover "secret" bypasses....
68th St from Jackrabbit or Chaparral S all the way to N Tempe is one, despite slower speed limits and occasional disappearing lanes....avoids Scotts Rd and its self-important drivers...Goldwater and Drinkwater don't seem to help too much as one tries to avoid downtown, but they are better than nothing.....
any other favorite "secrets" out there?.....

Interesting maneuver given that Camelback runs parallel to Lincoln.

If you would read the thread before making ignorant remarks, you would see that I was refering to my original route.
