Questions about Scottsdale/Phoenix and Jobs/Lifestyle in General
I'm thinking of moving out to the Scottsdale area toward the end of June. Having had enough of the East Coast I'd like to try something different for a while - at least for six months - and more if I love it. I'm attracted to an area known as Grayhawk and a complex called Edge and have heard both positive and negative and reviews were all but pulled from a major apartment review site so I'm at a loss.
Second, I would like to know more about the job market. I would do more research over the net but my field is a bit off the beaten path and finding information on it is not so easy. Is there anyone who is in the private investigation field? I'd like to get licensed in AZ and of course I can easily research how to do that but I'm wondering what the job market is like in regards to PI work AND bounty hunter work and licensing.
I would also be packing and need to get my concealed weapons permit for the state of AZ (have one here) and wonder how challenging it is to do so.
Now, being where I'm from, I'm used to muggy, humid heat, one of the worst traffic areas in the nation, and rude status conscious people in general. So - are there any other things about the area that might surprise me?
And last, if you were young, female, and single, with no family obligations and who can afford rent that is not to exceed $1300, which part of the metro area would you find desirable? Say, Grayhawk versus Old Town Scottsdale? (Looking at both).
I apologize if many of these questions have been answered already but I'm in a time crunch and I'm leaving on a jet plane tomorrow jetting off to another location for the week. Thanks so much for your thoughts!

Job Market
The job market in Phoenix is luke-warm.
The weather here in the summer is HOT!
It is also mostly a dry-heat, which you will get used to...
The difference I notice going from this heat to Midwest/East Coast humid-type heat:
In the humidity, I feel like I want to take a shower constantly; however, in the PHX heat you don't feel as sweaty overall.
It's still hot and you may fell some sweat, but not as much as other places. I would suggest seeking out shade whenever possible, as you know, the sun makes the heat feel more intense!

st.louis to scottsdale
Hello everyone,
I will be moving to Scottsdale very soon and was wondering if any one can give me information about where to live in Scottsdale. I did a little bit of research online but I am unable to find any substantial information. I have lived in st.louis for about 2 and half in an area called "central west end". It is considered safe, trendy and very close to nightlife, restaurants, entertainment. I would love to live in a similar area. I am a 28 yr old single male, prefer to live by myself. My budget is 750 for a studio or 1 bedroom. I really appreciate it if you can give me pointers to specific apartments. I will be working in 85260 area.
Thanks in advance,
VJ

Not much humidity except during monsoon season then it gets humid for a short time. Traffic is bad but not AS BAD as some areas, where exactly are you relocating from? There are status conscious people just like any other city and more so in Scottsdale but Scottsdale is a great area to live if you can afford it.
The job market is picking up a bit compared to a year ago. Grayhawk is a nice area, I recently moved from there and loved it! Don't know much about "Edge", the apartment area of Grayhawk was quite a distance from my home. It's a safe area though so you need not be afraid to walk around and enjoy the natural beauty. If you look hard enough you might be able to find a small home to rent for $1300 a month in Scottsdale if you want but it does take some searching of course.
Welcome to Phoenix .

With that kind of budget, you might want to consider buying a small townhome or condo. . . there are some terrific deals "out there" right now. . . .
