Exclamation Sun City

I used to have an office in Sun City when I was still employed. It is a great community with a mix of folks that have some residents with 15-20+ years of living there, along with part-time snowbirds...

In fact, my old associate from work moved to Sun City from the Northeast:

He absolutely loves it and would always answer the winter visitors questions on "how on Earth do you deal with summers here"?

I always got a kick on the answer he would give...

stay tuned

Yes a lot of snowbirds live in Sun City. Under 21 of age can visit only up to 90 days. Over 21 can live there if at least one owner is 55 or older. The average age of Sun Citians is just over 70.

The houses are inexpensive and well built and the area is well kept.
Actually, many retirees do care about politics ... and tend to be on the conservative side on many issues. That's not so much confined to Sun City, but the older population in general ... so the finger really can't be pointed exclusively at Sun City residents for that.

Older people tend to be more financially prudent, and may wish to associate with people their own age ... so that might be where you get the impression that they are "clickish". There's really nothing wrong with that in the big picture. Many have worked hard, raised children, and even served their country in their younger years ... and now that they're retired, many of them want to live away from children, and away from the hassles of everyday life. Sun City is known for beautiful streets and manicured lawns. I'm sure the residents want to keep it that way. If kids and younger adults were allowed to live in places like Sun City, the neighborhoods would begin to deteriorate FAST!

When we visited Sun City Festival 2 1/2 years ago the sales people showed us where the Fry's was to be and mentioned that it was to open very shortly at that time.

Sun City Festival is not age restricted as the other Sun Cities are. They have residential family areas.
The Fry's store is put on hold because of the economy. There is a brand new Fry's Market Place who is going to open in July on Cotton Lane. This one will be closer than the one on Reems & Bell. Sun City Festival is age restricted. There are no residential family areas. Sun City Foothills on the other side is for families.

I live in Summerlin, Nevada, close to Sun City, Summerlin. It's first class, with great shopping. Milder Summers than Phoenix. Very beautiful part of town. Summerlin was named after Howard Hughes' grandmother.
