On the 60 eastbound where they're doing construction the limit changed from 65 to 55. Most cars don't slows down at all. They're driving 70, and when I slowed down to 55 the other day I was tailgating and cars whizzing past me on both sides, as if the signs aren't there.

Fines are double in a construction zone. They should set up cameras there.

I'm happy for the cameras. (Even though I have gotten flashed twice in a 35 mph zone going 47 because the speed limit dropped from 45 to 35 and I didn't see the sign. On the first one I went to the class. I paid the second one.)

If people want to get rid of cameras, the solution would be fairly simple. Drive the posted speed limit.

The cameras are there because people don't heed the speed limits, and not only do the cameras slow the traffic down and make the highways safer, but it also brings in revenue.

Just remember, all of I-10 around Phoenix is 65mph. I-17 is 55mph from the the stack to about Dunlap and the 51 is 55mph between the short stack to Glendale. As for the 60, 101, and 202, they always seem to be under construction so I avoid them.

I drive as fast as conditions allow and use the left lane for passing only, as it's intended. My bike gets around 45 mpg and I can ride between the camera sensors in the pavement. My radar detector alerts me to the camera trucks, if I miss the signs. I kinda like the cameras too. They're far easier to defeat than cops running instant-on radar.

I see the same thing as well on the 17 with the radar near greenway and bell. The signs posted are 65 right as you enter the enforcment zone yet everyone continues to go 55- some even tap their brakes. Im sure its fear of getting a ticket but we can at least do the speed limit.

When the speed was down to 55 on the 51 everyone was going 65 or faster! But now that they FINALLY raised the speed back up to 65- I've noticed people staying at 55 or 60 its crazy!

I'm so sick of all these camera's everywhere.
Does every state have these photo radar camera's?
Or are we just the lucky ones.

No, you are not just the 'lucky ones'.

Here, we have the biggest speed nazis in the world, and in many places they are REDUCING speed limits, and cameras are EVERYWHERE. In AUstralia, too much emphasis is placed on speed, the stupid government acts as if its the ONLY cause of car accidents but ofcourse it's a fantasticly convenient way of raising revenue

I think AZ buys the cameras from an Australian company.

And those cameras are up for one reason only:

To raise revenue.

and in another twist the senate is looking at a bill that would report camera tickets to your insurance company and count on your MVR

Ariz. bill would raise stakes for speed violations

I don't drive, but even if I did, I would be terrified to drive at 65 mph. I feel that speed is reserved for race tracks. I admit it, and I am not ashamed of it. I frequently see cars going that fast and I wonder when the next accident will happen.

Are they just oblivious to the speed limit change, or scared to go 65?
I don't know about the 51 but what part of the 101 are you talking about b/c the section (from Chandler up to Pima Rd) I've driven on recently it seemed as though no one was doing anything below 70?
