Default internet and cable options for part-time residents??

just wondering what other part-time residents do for cable and internet? we will only be in phoenix 10-12 weeks out of the yr. We don't want to end up paying for the time we are away, but understand it can be cumbersome to activate and cancel. what options do we have?

we typically pay $40/mo for high-speed interenet in canada, how much would same service run in the states? how much would an a laptop air card run per month?

any other options you can suggest?

thanks in advance.

Its about the same here, $40 per month for internet and no contract is required so you could use it for just 3 months and then cancel it until the following year.

Depending on your service some are really good. I have Verizon and it works great for the basics. I would never consider downloading a movie on it, but for web/email stuff it's great. It's $59 a month and goes everywhere. It's great because i have pulled of the road while traveling before and connected so I could get some info or directions.

if you do cancel a service for a few months at a time, each year, make sure there aren't any cumbersome reconnect fees, reactivation fees, whatever fees.....

Cox, my cable/internet/phone provider, has some sort of "vacation" plan, where you can stay with them w/o disconnecting and reactivating, but the service is turned off and they do charge you a small fee to stay on....

high-speed internet down here can range from maybe $30 to $60/month with Qwest or Cox.....

I use the Verizon air card also as I need to stay connected for work. Good speed for everything except watching online videos. There is a local cellphone co. named Cricket that also offers 3G Mobile Broadband for $40 per month with no contracts. As long as you don't need to watch online video either service will meet your needs.
