Default Where to stay for two weeks in Phoenix?

My wife and I are going to be in Phoenix for two weeks in August. We are looking for short term housing near Maricopa Medical Center. A regular hotel will just be too expensive. So far, I've seen decent reviews about the Extended Stay near the airport. However, I've also been looking on craigslist, etc. for weekly rental homes and such. Does anyone know of a good place to stay for 2 weeks? We have a small dog we may be bringing with us, but we can leave her with friends if pets aren't allowed.

I'd pursue the Extended Stay thing as it's designed and priced for longer stays....as is stuff Like Motel 6 Suites, Marriott Residence Inn, Spring Hill Suites, and several other chains like these.....craigslist may be too "sight unseen"-ish....

summer rates are the lowest of the year, so that should help, too.....

try googling something like "long term stay hotels phoenix"

Thanks, I'll take a look at some of the other chains you mentioned. I had tried googling a number similar searches, but all I seem to get is a number of disreputable-looking sites that appear to slap a bunch of search results together from OTHER sites, then ask you for personal info to get "rates and details." Overall, though, is the area near the airport and hospital ok to stay in? Or should I look further out and deal with the drive?

sounds like you're up on how googling travel sites sometimes work....be careful with all that...

the immediate airport area around 44th/Washington/143/153/48th/University (NE and SE corners of airport) have all the usual chain airport type hotels, few of which are long-stay style.....not a horrible area, but geared more toward the traveler.....

the area around Maricopa Hospital is not fantastic....I think it's a public hospital, so, uh, you know.....

there are several decent chains of hotels geared more toward long stays....if you're lucky, you may find one for about $200-250/week, though it won't be the Ritz, but would be decent....is that in your budget?.....

Yeah, $200 to $250 would be phenomenal compared to the $290 I'm getting from Extended Stay America right now, but TripAdvisor has decent ratings for it. Doesn't have an oven, so I can't cook my Totino's Brand Party Pizzas, but I'll live. Says it's a block from Costco? So that's pretty cool.

those party pizzas rock!....10 for 10 dollars now at Albertson's!....they got me thru college

well, $290 may not be bad for that place and Phoenix in general....I may've been too optimistic....I will keep looking...

which Costco/Extended Stay??....

this "Studio 6" seems to be pretty good and priced right...

Studio 6 Tempe Arizona Extended Stay Hotel

not really convenient to Maricopa Hospital, but not bad right around on the I-10.....Baseline ramp traffic can be bad at rush hour....not bad to the airport....

the other Studio 6 is in a much less convenient spot in the NW valley

Found here:

4357 E Oak St Phoenix, AZ - Google Maps

Is that area decent?

I know that area...I get gas at that Costco a lot on the NE corner of Oak and 44th....not a bad area at all....lots of stores, restaurants, services.....44th St is a major road with excellent access to the airport just a couple miles S....you can use the 202 from 44th St to go west toward the hospital area....(see a map).....

for two weeks, it'd be nice to have an oven....do they only have stoves?.....

if you can get that for $290 for sure, that might be a really good spot....very convenient.....

your profile says Memphis.....we get a good bit humid in August, so you'll be right at home.....

is the hospital stay a bad thing or not too?....

Yeah, they only have a stovetop...I guess that's a "range?" It gets humid in August?? Damn. So all the rumors we heard about "but it's a dryyy heat" are lies? Tell me you at least don't have the mosquitos we do. The hospital is for a job, so it's a good thing. Thanks for all of your help!
