Funny thing happened to me while swimming at 6:00 a.m alone at the pool last week. I got stung on the lip by a bee. Felt like I had been shot, so maybe an African bee, who knows. Scared me, but I still love swimming alone.

I swim alone. It depends on your risk factors. If you a history of seizure, stroke or heart disease, I would avoid swimming alone. There are a lot of conditions that you should be conerned with so consult your physician and use common sense. If you have narcolepsy, I imagine you wouldn't be asking this question.
My first question to you would be what medications are you on. Some medications can lead to orthostatic hypotension which is a fancy word for saying your blood pressure drops when you stand up or change position which can lead to lightheadedness or syncope (passing out). A lot of medications can cause this such as antidepressants and blood pressure medications. Those medications worry me because a relatively healthy person can instantly pass out if they are on several different blood pressure medications or even a combination of one blood pressure medication and other medications. Make sure to consult your doctor regarding your medication (if any) and your risks of passing out.

The reality is there is a slim chance that something will happen to you while you're swimming. Basic common sense is all you need, if your feeling dizzy get out of the pool. Swimming alone is not a dangerous thing at all. The 'What ifs' seem to be marginalized as if they happen all the time.
Buy a house with a pool and enjoy your pool.

My daughter-in-law got out of the pool in a hurry because of a bumble bee coming after her. It is a concern. Glad the whole swarm of bees didn't come after you.
What does a person do when a swarm hits the pool when a person is in it?

I got nailed by a yellow jacket while camping in Michigan. For those "not in the know", they kinda look like a honeybee but bigger. And they're a "wasp" that usually build their nests in the ground. Evidently I stirred one up.
Got me right behind the ear. Swelled up like a golfball. Incredibly painful.
Anyway, found a dead bird in the pool the other day.

I suppose a person could keep a snorkel at the edge of the pool. So how long does the swarm hang around waiting for the target to surface?

I have heard reports of up to an hour, but the odds of being attacked by a swarm is extremely low.

just bought a house with a pool
how much is monthly maintenance (pool service)
it doesn't have a spa...we are part-timers, so we would need someone to take care of it
