A woman I work with is buying a house in . . . Tartesso? Hacienda Builders. They went out to see how it is coming this past weekend. Said the framing was up and real solid. They were pleased and think Hacienda is a quality builder.

I hear they're the only ones that build with 2X4 or is it 2X6. Anyway, all the builders use one kind and Hacienda uses another, thicker kind of wood.
Also, my husband has co-workers who have said nothing but good things about Hacienda. Many posters here, too. We don't own a home but are planning to next year. We're looking as well and I would say Hacienda is on the top of my list. |

We built a home in San Tan Heights with Hacienda, and we wholeheartedly recommend them. The sales people were less than impressive, but that was in the building boom. After that, the experience was great. The construction manager welcomed our calls and addressed any questions we had.
The house is built very solid with 2x6 construction. Any warranty issues we had were minor and were addressed in a timely manner. We would phone our warranty rep, and within a day he would call us back to schedule a time for the repair to be done. We've heard nightmares from other builders and were prepared for the worst, but there is nothing that we can complain about with Hacienda. They seem to believe in quality construction with customer service. Our house is now 2 years old and we are very happy with it and our experience with Hacienda. |

What makes you think that they are going out of business this year?
I looked at some of their homes a few months ago and thought that they were the leader of the pack by a large margin as far as quality. We had picked out a couple of plans and were planning possibly to buy one next year. altus2006 |

It should be interesting to see which builders can ride this out. Everyone seems to be getting cut left and right. |

I am really hoping that he is wrong about this builder because their houses are very well built and very much above the other competition.
We will be starting at square 1 again if Hacienda goes away. altus2006 |

sheena,
Thanks for the link to the article. It doesn't look good for them. I have been concerned about which builder will be left standing when this mess is over. I don't want to buy something and then not have warranty coverage because the builder is down the drain. altus2006 |

My brother is the owner and main employee of his own home/apartment company. He has done quite well up until the last 6 months or so.
He tells me that it is so bad, builders are practically giving away their work or properties. And still no buyers. They are all losing their, well everything. Many have already quit taking jobs, and are just hoping to get out with their own homes. Quite sad. He is in NM, but it is happening nationwide. Won't go into the politics. Personally, I would neither try to buy or sell until mid 2008 and see how the boats are rocking. Good Luck. |
