well. if you want to work at Banner Thunderbird. You're insane. Banner Baywood MIGHT be doable. I'm not sure what other hospitals are out there.. but look for something in Chandler or Tempe.

Personally I think you're somewhat crazy, but I understand the motivation for wanting to be able to buy a affordable home. When I've lived in Chandler off of Alma School and Queen Creek rds I commuted from Chandler to Casa Grande for my job from Nov 05 to Aug 06. 32 miles each way, but I was going against traffic. No way would I do Thunderbird seeing as though it's way over there in the West Valley but Heart b/c it's in Mesa would be a much more reasonable commute. Maricopa for me would be a definite nooooooo! It's way over there in Western Pinal County and it's "harder" to get in and out of than Casa Grande.

Well, you may be insane but you have plenty of company. The people who live in Maricopa certainly don't work there. And there are many, many new homes out that way. Go ahead and do what you want - just remember you were warned.

Would you be working 8 or 12 hour shifts? Day or nights?

I think many things are doable when only working 3 12's each week. I'm guessing 4 of those shifts each month would be weekends with less traffic. We lived in Sierra Vista, AZ and I knew numerous nurses that commuted to Tucson for their 3 12's each week. Some of them did share an apartment. I had even thought about it, but chose to work locally instead. I would never consider it 5 days a week, but 3.................
