Default Best places in the Phoenix are for....

....sweet 'lil 'ole ladies.

My Mother is considering moving to The Valley of the Sun; she's seventy years old, VERY indepedent, and is looking to live in a retirement community.

Preferably close to our home, 39th ave and Peoria.

Still contemplating the rent vs. buy thing....either way.

Of course, we have room for her, but she's not enthusiastic about living with us for a long time. I.e., she wants her own place.

i don't know, but a retirement community could be a good fit if she still gets around well

not sure on how it shakes out with the whole rent vs buy thing - but know some of my "older" friends who live in a couple gated ones and have everything from very active community centers (i went to a business meeting in one of the clubhouses and it was trippy seeing like 4 dozen whitehairs huddled around the shuffleboard complex) to assistance with things like grocery runs

i think there may be one or two that are west of your house but before the loop ...... but don't know the area that well aside from driving home from work and seeing things and visiting friends who live around 67th and olive

best of luck to you and your mom!

How about Sun City ?

My Mother have lived there for 26yrs and Grandma has lived
there for 42 yrs, and both very active in fact I sometimes
have to make an appointment to see them

Ton's of places to rent & buy !

It starts @ 99th & Peoria so she would not be that far away

Sun City Arizona AZ: a GREAT place to visit, play & retire

I'd look into one of the Sun Cities as well. My great aunt loves it AND the organized trips to Laughlin or Vegas...go figure! LOL
