Default Cheap, fun Golfing

Hey all,

I am looking for cheap golf courses. I am not that good and like to wear flip flops and a t-shirts to golf. I like to have fun and not take it too seriously.

I used to play at a decent course that was like $15 for 18. I am looking for something cheap and fun with no stuck up golfers.

Any ideas? East valley would be best.

Thanks

Not a golfer and don't know about the EV, but I've heard the Encanto Golf Course is very nice, yet extremely cheap and laid back. It is owned by the City of Phoenix.

Rolling Hills next to the Zoo is cool. It's municipal and is $12 for 9 holes. Gazelles on one side. Red sandstone ridges on another. Pretty hilly in some spots, though walkable (or a cart is cheap). I go with people who are simply happy to hit the ball forward and we always have fun - never rushed. It's pretty, has a beer cart girl, and an inexpensive clubhouse for post-game chow.

I started playing at Cave Creek Golf Course when I was 16, the course is not too bad, and is usuaully empty, never had a problem sucking horribly at golf and never been harassed by other players.

Wasn't that a landfill?

I have heard that it's one of the best "cheap" links around.

I know this is OT, but can anyone tell me where I should start if I wanted to learn to play golf? I've never played a course, but go to the driving range. Any inexpensive golf instructors out there??

It's summer, golf courses are empty, just go and suck it up with the heat, you can take your time and just have fun, get a golf cart, bring lots of water.

Thats how I learned.

I've never golfed before, but my coworkers say that Greenfield Lakes golf course is one of the cheapest.. I don't know how nice it is though (probably not resort nice, but cheap golf none-the-less!)

Desert Sands is off sossaman. My husband went last weekend and it was only $12 since it was midday. There's also this cool indoor golf place thats $20 and everything is electronic and accurate. This way you can be in an air conditioned building. Its called crosswoods golf and located on Higley and Baseline.
