Phoenix dirty?

You being a Minnesota native should know what dirty really is during the months November through May.

I, too, noticed a lot of Midwesterners in Phoenix. Midwesterners have at their core many of the same thrifty values that people in Phoenix have. The vast majority moved because of taxes / cost of living, the weather, and jobs.

I, on the other hand, liked it better in Chicago, my hometown, and my current home where I'll settle, Seattle. It just Phoenix wasn't my cup of tea - I like snow and cold weather occassionally, I enjoy a big city feel, and I enjoy multitudes of cultures all within the city limits and other things to do than sports.

I could see myself moving there and eventually liking it though, as I might get used to the desert and playing pickup soccer games at 11 PM when its cooled down enough =P

The main draw for Chicago retirees (who are my relatives) is the low cost of living.

Jobs? What jobs? The only jobs here are low-paying customer service jobs that dont offer a paycheck or future. At leats hte Midwest has INDUSTRY that balances the economy and creates a higher cost of living. As far as taxes goes, it depends on where you live. And Arizona bar none has a higher cost of living than IN, WI, OH, MI and IL outside the Chicago area. I honestly dont see any advantage AZ has to those other states.
