my drives always include stopping to p ee, get a snack, stop to p ee. old man. prostate. got the pic?
but I have made it to Phoenix in 2 1/2 hours(225 miles). once. really, really had to p ee.
Maybe it's just that the drive to Wilcox, which imo ranks right up there with Kingman for being the worlds armpit, seems to take forever because I know what the scenery is gonna be like.
Watch...kdog in kingman will be checking in any minute.

"Wilcox, which imo ranks right up there with Kingman for being the worlds armpit"

Wow, really?

I don't think I'd plan a vacation around Wilcox or Kingman, but armpit?

Actually, I don't mind either town. Kingman reminds me of a slightly more scenic version of any number of towns along I-20 between El Paso and Ft. Worth. Wilcox is ok, just so long as you don't waste your time and money with "The Thing". Apple Annie's is the best thing going for it, no doubt.

The I-10 splits a walnut orchard near Eloy. If you're southeast-bound just before sunset, with the mountains bright orange looming above the deep-green trees, it's actually a beautiful scene.

However, if you blink, you miss it....

There is an apple orchard at Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon, just outside of Sedona. The Apple Festival in in September. I'll bet the kids would love Slide Rock too.

Those are pecans, I believe, not walnuts. And they don't advertise it as a place you can visit (or eat something right off the tree, which is at least half the fun of going to an orchard).

I believe you are correct. And, no, I don't think you can "visit". My comment was about Eloy being unpleasant to drive through (an the way to Apple Annies in Wilcox).

There are still are lots of mature citrus trees in people's yards - that area is my neighborhood. There are actually thousands of citrus trees all across the Valley around homes. The fragrant smell in the spring is one of my favorite things.
However I don't think this is what the OP is looking for.
