A lot of stuff on the west and southwest side of town.

One idea --this time of year wouldn't be the best time for pictures there, but, if they are still there, there are fields of roses way out in the 100th avenues... I have the idea they are sort of central--Camelback, Bethany alignment or so.

Maybe you could contact the Cotton Growers or the Citrus Council, or maybe even the state Dept of Agriculture or the Maricopa County Extension Service for some good location ideas.

zac14,
Do you split filter (#00 and #5) when you are in the darkroom?

Split filtering is pretty easy, and the results are so much more superior, you should give it a try. Basically, you've got to figure out how long you need to expose the paper using the #00 filter to get details in the bright white areas, and how long you need to expose the paper using the #5 filter to achieve "maximum black" in the darkest areas. You put those together, and you've got the perfect amount of contrast.
Do you use a red or yellow filter when taking B&W photographs that include sky?
You should also read up on "The Zone System". You should be able to find a book at Borders or, if you are on a tight budget, the library.

So for the split filters i would do one test strip with the 00 filter and get my time then do one with the 5 filter and get my time then put those together for the final print? Also i use filters mostly yellow and I have a pretty good idea of the zone system.

Exactly. For the #00, it is important to find the exposure time that just begins to show details in the brightest areas. Good luck!
