We're really fond of El Encanto - they have 2 locations (Cave Creek and one in Carefree). Their Pollo Fundido great and their Flan is to die for!
I think they're opening one up in Ftn Hills also.

We enjoy Ajo Al's. they have 4 locations. Arrowhead, Phoenix and 2 in Scottsdale. Good food, atmosphere and decor. We visit the one on 16th street and Camelback.

I went to Camarones in Gainey Ranch, the decor was beautiful but the food was not up to par at all! The chips were cold, salsa too hot, the chicken looked like Campbell soup chicken, just not good at all and it was dead on a Friday night. I really have to check out Carlos O'briens.

I used to love Ajo Al's, but the quality seemed to delice over the past few years. I went to the one in Scottsdale, always got the stuffed queso thingy. I do agree, since they changed their salsa it's horrible.
On The Border closed? I loved that place at DR!

Blue Burrito has always been 1 of my favorite Mexican food places - in n. Scottsdale on Shea east of Scottsdale road.
It's pretty healthy stuff - no lard or any of that crap.

Blue Burrito is awesome, the "Big Blue" burrito is one of my all-time favorites, I was really dissapointed when they closed the one at PV mall, even though I always thought it was odd to have the locations so close to eachother.
If you're looking for a smaller restaurant, check out Valle Luna, there isn't any in scottsdale but they do have 3 locations around the city. I used to eat here almost every day for lunch when I worked in the area, I reccomend the enchilidas.

Is lard what makes the refried beans taste good at restaurants like Carlos O Brien's ect..........?
It would be nice to have that same great taste without the lard.
Are the pinto beans good at Blue Burrito Grille?
