Does anyone care if the Coyotes move?
Do any of you Phoenix citizens care or have any concern with the current state of your hockey team? Is the case with balsillie being televised, shown in the newspaper/media at all? Would you care if the Coyotes were to move?

I hate to see any revenue source leave the valley in these times. The exception being the speed cameras, they can leave at any time.

move them closer east. I would see a game if it wasn't so far.

Maybe my vote does not count as much. But if my wife and I move out there that would be my only chance to see my WINGS.

I agree with that statement for all sports and concerts here.. if they were closer to the east valley I would definately go, but I hate driving to Glendale or far west..

although I'm certainly not a Yotes or hockey fan, I dont care what they do. However, I expect them to eventually pack up and move. Hockey has proven not to be a money making sport in the Valley. Besides, hockey is a sport that is usually played in the East or in Northern climates. If the team cant earn a profit in PHX, I say let them move. Why should the NHL and the city of glendale be forced to subsidize a bankrupt team??

because it's a giant market and glendale would be in bad shape if they lost an anchor tenant and had to take over full management of the building which would be very costly - not to mention the lost tax revenues, diminished future development fees, etc
glendale and the NHL are both in tough spots
however, the NHL has had a bad issue of rushing into markets without adequete facilities in place and with questionable ownerships
they did too much, too fast and then wonder why it doesn't work
they failed to provide any level of stewardship and the local greed merchants get their hands in there and kill it
i dont' think anyone knows if the NHL can be profitable here, because no one has honestly tried it
however, hockey was the first sport to have a professional presence here and has been in the city in one capacity or another for a long, long time

If the Red Wings aren't skating, I don't watch hockey.
While there are some Coyote fans here, it's not enough.
Put together some winning seasons, and folks will gravitate towards 'em.
Sad to say, but the fair weather fan is most prominent, unless the team has some roots. Even when the Wings were having their "lean" years, it was hard to get Standing Room Only tickets for weekend home games.
That brand new fancy stadium of the Cardinals certainly helped that franchises cause, but most importantly, winning brings the fans in.
As a "newbie" to Phoenix (5 years now), I still follow my traditional favorite sports teams. I'm trying hard to be a Diamondbacks and Cardinals fan, but if they don't play decent ball.....it would be difficult for me to shell out cash to watch 'em play.
I like going to Chase field and University of Phoenix stadium, BTW.
Very nice. Great time every time I go.....

Why was the stadium not built closer to downtown Phoenix? Did they have the Glendale stadium built before knowing they'd get an NHL club?
