I'm wondering if termites are common in the suburbs of Phoenix. I notice they are - on the Tucson forum. Just curious about Phoenix.

They are probably more common is newly developed areas and in commercial building areas - for we have upset their ground -
Haven't seen them in the older neighborhoods (10 or up) for quite some time - but I think that is because - a lot of us treated and had regular checks - for prevention. But we did have them at work once - and boy is that costly and a mess to dig up concrete area and treat |

If you’re buying a home you sure want a GOOD inspector to have check for this type of problem, and yes it is everywhere in the state!

Phoenix definitely has termites! I've known of them since I was a kid. Newer or older homes, doesn't matter. As said above, get a good termite inspector. We had them bad years ago.

While no one wants to see their house eaten, termites play an important role in desert ecology. With little moisture and slow decay, we would be knee deep in palo verde, mesquite, creosote twigs and other dead woods without these bugs. |
