We will only be able to be in the house 3-4 month a year, but the investment is better than seeing your money disappear overnight in a retirement fund. We had second thoughts, but decided that we have let too many opportunities pass us by, only to say if only we had taken the chance , we would be this much further ahead. We have rented in the area for 2 years thru VRBO and have never been dissapointed in the area. Nothing but friendly people. Going for walks in the morning and you see people that you know are moving out of their home and they still call out goodmorning and are very friendly. The houses in Maricopa seem to be less expensive, but haven't been in the area enough to comment on the area. I say, if you can afford it , go for it.
Hi there, just got back from Queen Creek (Johnson Ranch) and we absolutely loved it. Hoping to make a purchase in this area rather then the other areas I'd mentioned earlier. We found the people all over in Arizona were extremely friendly but felt really at home in Queen Creek. We went to Florence, Buckeye and a couple other areas during our visit. Really didn't like those areas for a number of reasons but won't bore you. lol. I look forward to becoming a Johnson Ranch owner in the very near future. :>). Congrats on your purchase at Johnson Ranch and thanks for the feed back.... I will keep you posted. :>)

Some of the communities, like Pebble Creek, in Goodyear will put you up in one of their houses for a few days while you look around google Robson (the developer) they have several communities in the area.
