Default Laveen

Is Laveen really a major target for criminals or does crime just stand out there because of its location, size, and pack of new homes?

I have heard break-ins and garfitti are a real problem and have read of some violent crimes but really unsure if it's a good time to buy there.

A Laveen man was sentenced to a 30-year sentence for killing a prgent woman in a random act of violence.

Laveen man gets 30 years in fatal shooting

I'm very interested in knowing the extent of the crimes and whatnot in this area, because it seems like a perfect fit for my parents!

I would compare Laveen to the San Fernado Valley in Los Angeles.

Once a rural area that is filling in.

Old multi-generational gangs reside in the area.

Spots of decent/good areas surrounded by crime and industry.

Poor schools.

Laveen is a community that sprung up close to the historically minority-populated crime/poverty stricken neighborhood of phoenix. (south phoenix) The area is a mix of people who bought new houses, hoping the area would gentrify because of the influx of new people, $$, and eateries which boomed around the area of 51A/Baseline road 4-5 years ago, and old time gangster families. Very poor schools, and a buglary hotspot.

I live in Laveen. There are some beautiful views of S Mountain. There are some great spots surronded by some bad areas. Truely, Laveen is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I feel completely safe in my neighborhood. I like its closeness to town, the airport, etc.
