Default Buses In Peoria - Easy To Get Around?

I have a problem walking distance due to prior foot surgeries. My husband and I may be buying a house either in NW Peoria or Surprise. I heard Peoria has buses and I wonder how the service is on them. Do they run frequently and stop at a lot of blocks etc? Where I am now in CT the service is not good. I know Peoria and Surprise have Dial A Ride, but I got thinking maybe if the bus was a super short distance from my house I could use the bus instead. Also, do the buses go to a lot of places in Peoria - like the stores, doctors etc. Thanks

Service that far out is pretty minimal. See this map for bus routes in Peoria:

Nothing goes to the outer parts of Peoria or Surprise. If access to transit is important, you'll probably want to live closer in.

The Phoenix bus system is horrible. I attempted to take the bus when I lived in N Phoenix, I did if for about a month and gave up. The characters on it are a story for another day. Stick with dial a ride it's safer.

I would not depend on the bus system here, especially in the residential areas - no way! There's just nothing available and with our heat you'll have a stroke after a while.
