The east coast is gnarly in some areas. I was just in NYC last weekend. And every car you pass has rust or funk on it. So Phoenix may not be paradise. But its sooo much nicer than most of the east coast. And NO snow.

Let me clarify that the smell was the one just off the plane at the airport and not around town. Its probably exhaust I'm thinking. Just so you didn't think I meant all over town. lol

I know the speed cameras drive everyone a bit crazy, but you must admit we have pretty highways here in Phoenix. I mean the bas-relief(if you can call it that) pictures of desert fauna that one can see on say, the 101 or 202 at various points are quite nice. Plus, the numerous flowering plants and minimal graffiti and litter are appreciated. I never look at this city while I'm driving to work and say, blech, this is a hellhole dump and I've got to escape NOW! lol...

Overall, Phoenix gives the impression of a tidy city, compared to what I'm used to(east coast). And for those navigationally challenged, Phoenix has to be one of the easiest cities to navigate. No matter where I've gone throughout the valley, I've never ever felt lost to the point of not knowing how to get back home. Having landmarks like the antennae of South Mountain Park helps!

The freeways in Phoenix are much nicer looking than the ones in Tucson.
