Sadly, some people are too limited in thinking to see that both men and women are distracted drivers. It's not just women. My point is women are distracted in thought at times due to our tremendous multi tasking abilities. One thing men can not take a lot of credit for.
And by the fact that others are patting you on the back for your "great post" I sense I am dealing with older generation - old thinking mentalities. Not worth spending any further time here - I prefer to speak with more unbaised/educated people.

OUCH . . . that's a SHOT RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES!
However, LisaZ . . . prior to making such a vicious and disrespectful attack, maybe you might consider checking accident statistics! Especially those accidents directly related to distractions associated with Cell Phone usage including Text Messaging.

Well I can agree that texting and driving is a big nono. However, I feel whether I talk on a phone or talk to somebody in my car, it's the same distraction. Actually I feel talking to somebody in my car is more dangerous because of the fact that I was raised to look at the person I'm speaking to.

HARDLY!! That is not a shot but an attempt to belittle me by commenting that post was sexiest! There was nothing sexiest about it was there? Did i make any references to a gender? No but she was all worked up about it that when I gave simple, common examples of a few trivial topics that people could be chatting about, all of a sudden I am an uneducated, narrow-minded sexiest oldfart!
Funny how she can call me sexiest when all she does is talk abut how talented women are since they can multi-task unlike men, etc.!
Lisa good luck talking to educated, unbiased younger people, I am sure they can tolerate talking to a biased, conflicted youngling such as yourself better than we oldfarts ever could...
PS. I don't care what is posted beyond this, I've already made my point with my last post. Things will only get sillier and more offbase if this continues. I am going to change my pacemaker's batteries..

Actually, doesn't it make sense to you that if you have another person with you in the car...then there are a second set of eyes on the road other then yours, therefore making it safer? That is the way I see it.
About the sexist thing...it's funny that the women are pulling out the "sexist card" about some of the comments but then go on to say how much better multi-taskers they are. That isn't a sexist comment? That's like saying men are better drivers.

I don't think there are any statistics that tell us who talks on the cell phone more when driving, I've seen both men and women do that while driving. I have however seen women putting on make-up while driving! Thankfully, I haven't seen any men doing that!
Sometimes, when you're behind somebody stopped at a light or a left turn arrow, and the light changes to green and that person infront of you is still sitting there, there's a good possibility he/she is on a cell phone. There were several instances where I had to sit through another red left turn arrow because of that, and often the driver infront of you, who wasn't paying attention, goes through the light after hearing horns blaring behind them!

I find all this talk about special laws against phone use while driving a joke.
Just enforce the laws as they exist, IMHO. If someone is not paying attention and clips someone causes an accident or looks like they are dangerous....they should get a ticket or get thrown in jail.
Frankly, I don't care if you are a man or a woman. If you are a danger to others you should be punished. Do not drive huge pile of steel without putting 100% effort into it. You could kill someone ELSE.
I, personally, think zone out car phoning is the same as: trying to get the taco sauce on your burrito, yelling at your 3 year old for kicking your seat, arguing with your 12 year old in the front seat, putting your makeup on in the rear-view mirror, crying over being dumped by your boyfriend, looking at a gps, blah, blah, blah.
Drive and pay attention. If you can do certain things while doing this...great. Using your cell phone is no different than anything else that takes ones mind off the road.
I'll agree to a law against cell phone useage in cars, when they make it illegal for the dim-bulbs multi-tasking while curling eyeslashes and changing poo diapers while driving.
Oh, but that would be sexist.
