Default Arizona now allows concealed weapons in bars

.......What are your thoughts on this new law passed? Personally I think most ccw's permit carriers are generally pretty responsible or they wouldn't have obtained the permit. I don't think it will make much difference. Also I see most bars posting "No Weapons allowed" signs anyway.

I agree that it won't make much difference. The CCWs carried in bars already and, like you say, most bars that cater to people other than the gun nuts have signs up. To many of them, the guns are like a second penis and they don't leave home without them or put them in the glove box. I don't agree with your assessment of CCW being pretty responsible. Many, maybe most, are but there is a sizable portion of them that are drunks, druggies, unconvicted criminals, wing nuts and kooks. Nobody has to prove themselves responsible to get a permit - just not convicted.

PS: I have a ccw permit and several guns. I will not be taking my gun out with me for a night on the town.

This law has more to do with going to a restuarant like lets say Applebee's that have a bar then going to Axis/Radius on a Friday night. This law is stupid and isn't going to stop criminals from bringing in guns. All it does it stop the law abiding citizen from carrying, because we all know criminals follow the laws.

I agree. It looks much worse in the media than it does to people living here. Nonetheless, I don't agree with the law but have come to accept that this is a part of Arizona culture. We love us some guns. That will never change

i like it. now the criminals aren't the only ones armed. well, except for the places that prefer only the criminals be armed....

I also do not need to leave my gun out of my sight when i go for dinner in a restaurant that serves alcohol. I feel a lot more comfortable knowing that if my car gets stolen while i eat the criminal stealing my car won't become armed too. I never felt comfortable leaving a gun locked in my car.

It should also be mentioned it is illegal for a concealed weapons permit holder to consume alcohol in a bar while carrying. This is nothing more then a common sense law to allow people to keep their weapon secure in restaurants that serve alcohol. Most sit down restaurants around here serve beer or liquor.

I also would bet more people have been killed by people drinking at the bar then driving home then people sitting in a bar shooting people.....

Yeah instead someone robbing the patrons at an applebees there will be a shootout at the applebees, a vast improvement.

I agree. I wouldn't mind a list of the establishments that are posting the "no firearms" signs so that I could give them my business.

...or the criminal will realize there is a chance he isn't the only one armed at applebees and will go on to the next easy target.

the more realistic scenery is that nothing will happen and no one will notice. everyone will completely forget about the change in a few months.

The media is just trying to boost thier ratings, this law is all ready on the books in 39 other states and there has been no issue, besides, laws only apply to the law abbiding citizen, criminals DO NOT CARE about a law, that is why they are CRIMINALS, and criminals prefer thier victims to be unarmed.
