I personally agree. I doubt everyone feels that way but for me after 19 the novelty has worn off. I still love palm trees though but they can keep the rest of the desert plants desert rocks and dirt.

I much prefer the natural desert look too. Move to Tucson--way more natural desert than Phoenix!

I'm with you. I've been here since 1962 and whatever novelty there was, it wore off by 1970. I do love the desert, but I don't need to have it in my yard. My property is an oasis: Green grass, pine trees, a pool, spa and more than 20 rose bushes. The desert is everywhere. If I want to look at cactus, I can drive about 1/2 mile and it's all around me, or I can just look over my back wall at the Superstitions.

1962? That's the year I was born Yes we had a green oasis in our yard too, in fact you decribed my yard except I had a pond too. It's funny when we did the back landscaping my mother in-law she was trying to be helpful and she would come over every weekend and bring us some sort of cactus. We were doing a green yard with green leafy plants and colorful roses and flowers. I told him I don't want these cactus's here. He mad a little spot and shoved them in the corner
