New to Mesa
Hi All,
Was offered a job at Boeing Mesa. Not familiar with Mesa/Phoenix area at all. I am a single, mature (50+) professional female, looking for suggestions on where to live, that would be safe and relatively close to work, are there any suggestions? also, how is the night life/lots of things to do/singles.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, I am coming from the L.A area.

Boeing is in northeast Mesa, which would be a good place to live. Las Sendas and Red Mountain Ranch are both very nice communities. You would also be close to the 202 freeway, which can get you to the night life in Scottsdale very easily.
Gilbert is also a very nice, safe place. You would probably be looking at a 30 minute drive to work, which probably isn't anything to you, coming from L.A. There is a huge group you can find on meetup.com, of singles in Gilbert. They are very active, and people of all ages get involved.
Welcome!

Thanks AZTracy,
Someone mentioned Chandler...is this a nice area and about how far isit from Boeing, and what do
you think the traffic be like. Is all of Gilbert a pretty safe place to live. Thinking about trnting a hotel room until I find a place to live....any suggestions on a safe place, close to Boeing.

I second what AZ Tracy said about location.
Note that Scottsdale's night life is geared towards the younger set vs. 'old codgers' like us (I just turned 52).

My sister is 50 years old and having the time of her life in Scottsdale. Stick with the high end clubs where you'll have a great time.

Yes, there are also some very nice areas in Chandler. Gilbert is known for being a very low crime area. I don't think traffic would be much of an issue in either area - unless you go too far south. You'd probably be taking surface streets as opposed to freeways in many areas.
Staying in a hotel room for a bit, is probably a good idea. The closest thing I can think of near Boeing is at Painted Mountain.

Mar1373,
You can get an idea of traffic and distance from this google map. Boeing is where the blue balloon is - you can see where Gilbert and Chandler are, and the live traffic patterns.

AZ Tracy and all,
Thx for the posts, real helpful. When I arrive in Mesa will be in a hotel for a couple of weeks, need some suggestions for a hotel or room efficiency, in a safe place close to Boeing,,,,also $$ is a consideration, since I am paying my own relo costs. Someone told me Scottsdale is a nice area, how close is it to Boeing. I be looking to rent a studio apartment, in a nice area, near Boeing...any suggestions on apartment complexes,. I checked some on the internet, but you can't always go by what they say on the internet. Also checked for a room on Craigs List, but one has to be super careful.
Any help/suggestions really appreciated. How is the weather during the winter, guess it doesn't get too cold.
