Default Safe Zip Codes

Soon to be ex-CAer here. I know everyone says get the job first, but...Can anyone tell me if these are safe areas? 85029, 85031, 85033, 85040, 85037, 85021, 85008, 85024, 85032, 85301, 85202, 85306, 85210. Where are good cities in which to rent apartments or any good complexes with all the perks AND good management/location (other than Tempe, know that one)? Also, what is the Therapist job market like in PHX?

Thanks!

you are all over the map with those zip codes
85040 is the worst of the bunch and is right in the heart of South Phoenix.
85210 I would put 2nd its @ the heart of Little Mexico in Mesa

Can't tell you about the therapist market. Maybe North Scottsdale?

And these ZIP codes are large areas. There are parts of some of them that are much better than other parts. You can't go by ZIP codes, you need to come and look around to see the area and make decisions not only on crime rates, but other livability factors.

What kind of "therapist" job-- working for a health care facility, a government entity, a social service agency, or private practice? What certifications/degrees do you have? I can't answer your question, (except that hiring by state and county entities would be VERY sparse, but some health care type jobs are exempted from hiring freezes) but those who can might need a little more info.

Thanks for your response. These zips codes are for foreclosures that I am looking at in Phoenix. Don't want to bother you with addresses, and I don't know if I can really buy, but I can dream. I will be graduating as an OT Assistant in June 2010 and want to leave LA. I have visited AZ and liked it -- better than LA. Of course I'd look at any foreclosure in person because it is so close to fly in.

Registry companies have most of the control of COTA jobs that I've seen, so I'd likely be working through them. I'd prefer Home Health or schools if possible. Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

How about 85205 - around University and Recker?

Looks clean and safe.

I'm sure there are nicer areas but is there anything that would make you think twice about living in this area?

Schools are:
Elementary: Salk - Jr. HS: Fremont - HS: Red Mountain

85024 is an amazing area, 85032 has it's good and bad areas since the square is included in this zip code.

Actually the ideal zip code area is 00000. It's called the "Pearly Gates" and is the entry into "The Garden of Eden". The HOA is run by group of Angels and it's leader is, well you think about it.

Otherwise any zip area has it's pluses and minuses.

85301 is crap. It is in West Phoenix/Glendale/Maryvale area. Stay AWAY from anything listed under "Maryvale". Horrible crime, dirty, depressed. On the other hand, a similar sounding zip 85031 is alright - Central Phoenix - rather ok and nothing like 85301. 85029 is also a no-no. Icky place. These are all zip codes I have lived in and can speak of and the other one I have lived in which is the best is 85331. The zips you are talking about sound like ones that WOULD have a lot of foreclosures in..

That area runs from about 52nd St to 40th St between Indian School and Thomas.

The area is older, and not the best, but very livable.
