Are there ANY teachers from East Valley who post on this forum? If so, I'd love to hear from you. I plan to start submitting resumes in January beginning with the districts in Chandler and radiating out from there. Any suggestions on the best places to apply for a high school Business/Computer teacher with a Bachelor's degree and 14 years of experience? Any tips, contact names, hints, or helps would be greatly appreciated. I have my fingerprint packet just about completed and ready to mail. I'm going to have to call ADE to find out which of their certifications match up with the four endorsements I currently hold on my MS license so that I can complete the AZ Reciprocity Application (and figure out how much it's going to cost). Thanks for any help! :-)

You might want to start a new thread with east Valley teachers in the title. I'm sure there are some who post here, they will find you quicker that way, I think. Good luck!

I think you might like Chandler/Gilbert because it is outlying and sort of farmy, ranchy, with some top of the line shopping. There are a lot of affordable rentals right now, you will have no problem. Here are some zips to look into. 85286, 85249, 85298, 85297, 85295, 85248, 85286. These are the areas I think are safe, nice and overall the best in both Chandler and Gilbert. Close to everything but far enough away to take a breath. Go on "Craigslst" and look at rentals in these zips, or Chandler/Gilbert. You will get familiar with what we've got.
Coming from the South you are use to some extreme heat so I think you wont have any problems here in the summer. It will just last longer thats all. You seem pretty determined, so I bet you find some job around the location you desire. Remember, there is always "online" schools who are looking for teachers. Some are located here and you could work from home for the most part. This would be a good fill in if you need to search further after you arrive for a "brick and mortar" school.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Thank you, twiggy...
...for the wonderful suggestions!! Yours is the most positive and useful response I've received to date and I really appreciate it. You're right, I am determined. While I won't relocate without a job, I won't give up if it doesn't happen this year. It was wonderful to get something other than the "don't move here you'll hate it there are no jobs" posts I keep seeing; very depressing.
I have a friend who's closer than family living in Chandler, so that will be the center of my search, but I'm willing to go anywhere in the East Valley. Heck, an hour's drive sure beats 1600 miles! LOL
I hope you're having a wonderful day and thank you again.
