Wow, that's more than double than what my 2bd2bath Tempe apartment costs! I'm assuming for that price you're getting a garage, so you don't have to worry about your car being broken into, and a really nice pool. If the price isn't the issue, I would go with Scottsdale-- tons of unique restaurants, outdoor restaurant-bar-nightlife establishments, interesting stores. The Biltmore fashion park is nice too, but other than the mall, which is a nice outdoor environment but otherwise nothing special, and the AMC movie theater on the south side of Camelback, I don't know of anything else in the area you can walk to. True, there's a bunch of stuff on Camelback between 16th and 24th, but it's just your typical Phoenix arterial stuff, like a Black Angus steakhouse, and not very walkable. The Biltmore hotel and golf course is really nice, but the neighborhood around it and that Camelback & 24th intersection with the office buildings is highly overrated, and boring, IMHO. Downtown Scottsdale seems more young (at night at least, when the old gift shop tourists bussed in from Sun City have left), more fun, more people walking around.

Default What are the rental prices for a 1 bedroom in Biltmore?

The area sounds like it is just what I am looking for. Are the rental prices reasonable?

Ok...the time has come for me to make a decision soon, I remain undecided and would appreciate more input: Biltmore vs. Downtown scottsdale.

Biltmore for well adjusted wealthy centrally located people.
Scottsdale, aka Snobsville, for overpriced uppercrusty partying pink taco and Jenna's cabaret people.

Default What's there to do in Biltmore?

This is a great post to read. I am moving to Phoenix at the end of July, and have chosen an apartment in Biltmore. My fiance and I will be newlyweds by then, and looking to enjoy ourselves. We're gonna be living at "La Terraza", which is 2 blocks from the Trader Joe's and all that other stuff. What's the good nightlife around there? Someone there told us it's a gay neighborhood, but we didn't get that vibe. Wouldn't really matter if it was, since the apartment is also 2 blocks from my work, so there's no way we're going somewhere else.

So, I'll repeat my question, what's the good nightlife around there?

I'm coming from Portland, OR, and I was a bit leery of the move at first, mainly due to the weather differences. Was there a couple weekends ago for interviews and had a great time, so now I'm looking forward to it!

I seem to have a tough time deciding b/w the two areas and I was hoping to get some input/help from you. Things that I care about include safety, fun factor, proximity to shops/restaurants.

Thank you
For sure the Biltmore area.
