Default Haggling Rent Prices?

Has anyone attempted to talk their management into a lower price agreement when renewing their lease?

My lease is over in a few months, and the market has gotten worse it seems, so I am hoping to save a little on rent each month.

My rent is around $550 right now, and similiar aparements in the area have dropped to as low as $400 a month.
