here is some interesting data about the benefits of sun exposure.
1. Kills germs and increases the elaticity of skin. The sunlight kills microbes. That's why it is important to put out in the sun carpets, blankets and eiderdowns that cannot be washed regularly. Exposure to the sun confers the skin a bright, healthy look and increased elasticity.
prevents and treats skin problems!
A moderately tanned skin is more resistant to infections and sun burning than an untanned one. Many skin diseases (dermatitis) can be controlled and even cured through controlled exposure to the sun.
strengthens the immune system. The sun rays are proven to strengthen the immune system.
2. treats and prevents depression. Sunlight helps in cases of chronic or acute depression, by stimulating the synthesis of endorphins (good-feeling hormones). That's why we get depressed in the cold and dark days of the winter.
3. Treats and prevents insomnia. The sun is good against insomnia. Daytime exposure to sunlight increases the melatonin production during the night. This hormone helps regulate the sleep.
4. enhances bones. Under the action of the sunlight, the skin synthesizes vitamin D, which makes possible calcium absorption in the intestine, helping the organism grow strong bones. This way the sun prevents rachitism in both children and adults and osteoporosis in elders.
5. treats and prevents some cancers. As vitamin D and some related compounds impede the development of some cancer cells, we can say the sun fights off this disease. Regular and controlled exposure to the sun has a preventive effect against cancer of colon, breast, leukemia and lymphomas.
6.helps your heart and circulation, blood sugar and cholesterol Exposure to the sun strengthens the cardiovascular system. Blood circulation is improved, the pulse, arterial pressure, moderately high glycemia and cholesterol levels can be normalized.
7. improves liver funtion Sun rays improve liver functioning, being effective in treating jaundice.
8.helps the kidney and eliminate waste. They help the kidneys with a part of their job, as the sun waves favor the elimination of waste products through the skin, when we sweat.
9. treats and prevents pms and increases metabolism. The sun also helps losing weight by increasing the metabolic rate through the stimulation of the thyroid. It also eases symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.
10. treating arthritis. The sun rays also ease the healing of the swollen joints during peaks of inflammation in cases of arthritis.

wow, I like all those benefits of the sun exposure. Im also thinking about moving to AZ and am very confused. Cmist is very good to communicate with, which Ive seen you did a lot of already...lol..Im thinking of moving from Long Island, ny with my 2 boys and, like you, Im a gypsy, I have moved about 11 times and lived in 3 different states. Keep in mind it takes at least 1 full yr to adjust to a new state but more like 2 yrs. Many people move to a state and they never give it time. You hear so many times that after a few months, people move back where they came from, you just cant do that..Give it at least 1 or 2 yrs and then you will know if its for you...but then again, Im a gypsie too so we may not be the nor...lol

I think there are lots of things to consider when moving with children. You will probably want to check out greatschools.org I have never been to Phoenix so I cannpot honestly say. All the data I have is from the internet. I can tell you things will be waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper than long island. But Alot of it has to do with your source of income and your line of work etc. How old are your kids? Have you talked to them about it? What do they think of the idea and where is their dad? Does he see them? Do you have family where you are now that is active with the kids? I am not trying to be nosy. I am a mom too and I know that those are all important factors to consider when moving with kids. Good luck!

My boys are 7 and 10 and I used to work for america west so I have friends in Az plus my half brother lives there with his kids and grand kids that are about the same ages as my kids. My ex doesnt mind if I leave so all we do is go to the lawyer and sign some papers. I havent worked in 10 yrs but I want to go back to the airlines. I basically will be living on child support unless i find a job but to work in the airlines with the crazy schedules, you need help and I dont even have that here and to work for 10 bucks an hr then pay a babys sitter, isnt worth it so thats why I stayed home and are raising my kids. I think its the most impt job in the world and yet the most unappreciated and you dont even get paid..lol...I really dont have any close family and my uncle just passed away which im going to his funeral on Monday. I dont even see my good friends anymore because they either work or are just busy with their own families.....The thing that is holding me back is that I moved so many times and are a nomad but I want to give my kids stability and I cant afford NY..Im not sure if I can even afford az...Im not happy in LI, its old, expensive and cold...I moved 11 times in my life but like you, I want to try and settle down too..

Sorry about the loss of your uncle. Keep in mind if you move and the ex does not pay child support you are screwed basically. I have seen the parents in court dealing with that. I happen to be one of the rare women who got stuck paying child support. Hopefully your ex is not the evil spawn of satan like mine.
How often do the boys SEE their dad? That should be a factor as well. It is good that you have family in AZ so that is a plus.
DO not count on the job aspect since you have been out a while and it may be difficult to break back in to the work world. I speak from experience. I was a housewife/homemaker for 18 years and it was hard to get back into the loop.
I am sure there will be after school actiities for the boys or perhaps your brother can help you get started. How old are you ? Maybe we could become friends and whichever one takes the plunge first can help the other lol

My boys see their dad a couple times of week because of soccer practice and soccer games but they only stay overnight at his house every once in a while since he doesnt have patience with them...Some people tell me it might be hard to get a job but others say with my experience Ive had, that will definetly help..Im 42 so Im an older parent with 2 young boys..My ex is good and will continue to pay the child support, the down side is that his union only pays medical benefits in NY/NJ....ugh.........yes, we can be friends, its nice to talk to someone in the same boat..talk to you soon.

I added you btw. Well the thing is , even if it's only a few times a week and at games. It is important for them to be able to see their dad IF they want to. I know they are young. But you would not want them to act out due to resentment of moving them either. Kids do not always speak freely because they don;t want to disappoint their parent. I dealt with that with my daughter when she was 16 and it took a while to tear down the walls that were built as a result of it. You may want to talk to them at an appropriate level for their age and to their dad to see what his plans are as far as continued contact if you move. Follow your gut, hopefully niether of us has faulty intuition and that will guide.
