I just moved to the West Valley (Tolleson) a couple of months ago. My PCP/OBGYN was in Scottsdale but just moved back to Cali. I am now about 10 weeks pregnant and am looking for a great OB/GYN in the West Valley. I work in Scottsdale, but would like my doctor a little closer to home. Any reccomendations?

I would look to align with Banner Estrella and not West Valley Hospital.

Unfortunately, I do not have any recommendations. My wife and I went through a practice that is aligned with Banner Estrella and never really connected to the Dr. and had a pretty bad experience with the OB/GYN office. We have friends who use different doctors in the same practice and have had favorable experiences.

We recently delivered at Arrowhead Hospital, and although not as state of the art as the newer Banner Estrella, it was a fantastic experience. Our Dr. is very good for our needs and we found the staff at the hospital to be excellent on the whole.

However, I would lie if I said that the drive from Goodyear doesn't become a bit much and that waits can be pretty long on your Dr. visits.

Yeah, I'd like to know, too, 'cuz I'm not too happy with mine! It seems to me when I was researching via my insurance company, there's not a whole lot to choose from. It's a little frustrating!

I recommend Dr. John DeSalvo or Dr. Georgeann Polanski at Desert West Ob/Gyn. They are at 5601 W. Eugie Ave. Suite 100, Glendale, AZ 85304. Phone: 602-978-0409 Scheduling: 602-978-1500. I have had personal experience with both and they are very good.

Strategies

1. Google Phoenix Top Docs and locate OB's in the west side. THere are two top doc listings that are free right now (2008 and 2009).

2. Most likely the Top Doc will be full and not taking new patients or the wait will be long, that's okay though because the top doc will usually have partners that are good too. Go to the doctors website and it will list their partners. They might be young and trying to prove themselves (and will likely be a top doc later) Write their names down and proceed to step 3.

3. Go to ratemds.com Look up their name by specialty (OBGYN) and read comments made about them by other people. I've found this site to be effective and it helped me locate my OBGYN.
