I knew this, since my dad worked for DPS, and simply said "huh, I didn't know that, I should take care of that". He didn't give me a ticket or anything. Both my and wife's cars have darker than legal tint currently, and have never had a problem, and both of us have been pulled over in the past couple years. I usually roll both windows down when pulled over, anyway.

It's a risk worth taking for me. The legal tint doesn't do nearly enough to keep the car cool.
I was pulled over 2-3 times in my life for illegal tint, but I was on the road 10 hours a day, so that sounds about right. Here in Vegas, I put on dark tint, but have not been bothered at all.

I am in CA often, never been pulled over for the tint.
Well all I know is we were TICKETED for our tint being too dark - in California - and we have Arizona plates.
