Default How to find families in need for Christmas dinner?

Hello,

My wife and I would like to donate a couple Christmas Dinners to a couple families that are in actual need. If I was struggling I would not want to drag my family to a food kitchen to feed them on Christmas so I'll like to donate a complete cooked meal that is picked up from a grocery store near their location that they can take home and enjoy a Christmas Dinner.

The problem is I don't know how to find families in need that have lost a job or had other economy related struggles? I would rather it go to a family that is working hard and had some rough times than to a family where they are happy to sit around and do nothing or using drugs, etc.

Does anyone know of a way to locate a couple families in need of a dinner at Christmas? Would it be better to just donate money to an organization that feeds the needy?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Default You might try....

one of your local churches. Or even the local DES office. I'm sure they have a lot of people who could use the help. It's really nice that you want to do this so I hope you find some who will appreciate it. Oh, and also some of the local fire depts. take donations for needy families too.

Thanks, I will check with your recommendations and see if they can lead me to a family that is truly in need.

You can "adpot a family" through St. Vincent De Paul. We did it this year, cost about $200 for the whole family, you get them food/clothes/toys.
