Why did you ever buy it then...?

Everybody keeps saying "the demographics changed." Sounds like they're afraid to call a spade a spade, and try to be PC, and it's not clear. What exactly changed? Is it mostly Hispanic now?

there are some locals upset that what they call "katrina rejects" are moving in. Ironically all this talk started when the walmart store opened. I have no hard evidence to back this up, but my opinion is that more maricopa residents are shopping here instead of chandler, so more people are seeing who their neighbors are.

Since walmart opened the grocery prices dropped dramatically, allowing those of us sensible with our money to shop locally. before that there was a hefty mark up, even shopping at fry's here vs chandler.

And, so far the only demographic change that can actually be proven is that the dishonest people who lied stating they would pay back a debt have left. Many by saying "screw the people that lent me money, their loss."

To bring this full circle back to the topic at hand, a 76% increase in sales and under 6 month supply of homes means Maricopa is getting back on the map.

I saw some buyers in my hoa last night. It had been real quiet, as far as lookers. This is at about 25 cents on the Dollar.

I bought it in 2003 when I thought it would be something. It never grew to be anything.

Did you give up on your retirement/pension fund for the same reasons? It is called patience, I think, and a long-term investment, not a quickie overnighter...

Did you expect Maricopa to become "something" or did you expect appreciation? If you bought it in '03, you must've seen some decent appreciation.

It's not just a Hispanic issue. Whenever you have 4000 square foot houses renting for 1000 a month, not to mention some of the dirt cheap sale prices, you get different sorts of people than could live there before, of all races/ethnic groups.
