Default What...no talk about the rain?

I'm shocked!

We had the biggest amount of rain since I can remember in the past two days...well, mostly yesterday...and apparently "the big one" is coming Thursday.

We received 1.36" of rain here at my house in NW Phoenix near 67th Ave and Happy Valley with 0.08" on Monday and 1.26" yesterday. Not too bad for a place that usually gets about 7.5" the whole year.

I'm thinking we could get a total of 3" by the time the storm moves through...would be nice! Spring should look beautiful around here with all the water the desert plants are getting.

I should go get a rain gauge, but I now know where the low-lying areas are in the yard

Recker Rd. was so flooded this morning they had people out there directing traffic since only one lane was usable! There was a big truck that looked like it was going to suck up the water. It was awesome I can't wait for the big storm!

On a side note, my sister was going to come down (from Show Low) to visit this weekend. However, since they got two feet of snow and expect a lot more (and roads to close) she decided to come down today.

Crazy weather!

We've been enjoying heck out of it up here in the Verde Valley. It hasn't been one of those really hard rains but fairly gentle with 'some' stronger times. It's the kind that really soaks into the ground. We've had 'some' winds but not too bad. Mingus Mtn. has a tad bit more snow on it.

Since today is supposed to be mostly rain free I am taking the opportunity to go run errands and buy groceries. Then when it's coming down again I can relax and enjoy it some more!

Just curious. Has it ever snowed in Phoenix?

A couple of years ago, it snowed in LA and it was the weirdest thing to look at.

Of course...The "biggest snow storm in Phoenix" was in the 30's and one in the 70's...1-4 inches fell in downtown and Sky Harbor with the heavier snow over 1" in the outlying areas of the city...which back then wasn't as far as today mind you... and stuck around for as long as 4 days! Looking for the info now...

P.S. here is something about snow in Phoenix' higher elevations in 2006: http://phoenix.about.com/od/weather/ig/Snow-in-Phoenix/

Here is some more:http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/psr/general/....php?page=snow

Yea...it's happened but very rarely and usually doesn't stick at all.

I actually remember it snowing a year or two ago in North Scottsdale...was driving down the 101 near Frank Lloyd Wright and it was snowing, it was pretty strange.

Here is a picture I found on Google taken Jan 1, 2007
