There really is no solution. I cleaned on top of a high shelf recently, and it was really thick. I guess that the only thing to do is a thorough dusting every two weeks (any more would drive me nuts) and a light dusting of your most used tables, etc. once a week.

If anybody sees a noticeable difference in household dust accumulation by using a large air purifier, please post your experience.

I use a salt rock ionizer and it seems to help clear the air... makes the dust crash to the ground. In the end it all still needs to be cleaned up, however.

Glass tables and black electronic devices will also suck in any latent particles. My TV, on a glass stand, with black components remains dust free for about 13 seconds!

i saw on HGTV last night a suggestion to keep dust down. Put a layer of cheesecloth inside your ac/heat vents. THe cheesecloth lets the air go through but stops some of the dust. I have not tried it myself yet but it is on my list of things to do.

It might be your windows.

If you live on the edge of development, that is, if there are
open fields, or worse, new housing being developed within
a mile of your house, you are going to have more dust.

Do you have mini piles of dust at the corners of your windows?
That dust is so fine that it takes almost nothing to get it
airborne. When we lived in Chandler, in a development being
filled-in and surrounded by open fields, dust wasn't an issue
due to the high-quality windows installed on our house.

Thumbs up re: Dusty home

Try this site. I have been researching air purifiers for some time. You may need more than one depending on the size of your home.

Honeywell makes some cutting edge air-purification devices. Some are for jet aircraft; others can be found at wal-mart. www.honeywell.com.
