I have plans to move to Scottsdale this summer with a friend who has been there for about two years. I keep reading on these forums that the job market is probably worse there, then here in Baltimore. I know it's tough every where but this concerns me a little. I have a degree in Human Services and currently work as a case manager...is any one familiar with this job market in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and if so can ya give me some information??? I plan to visit at the end of March and actively start looking for jobs. Just want to know where I should star. Just out of curiosity...what do most Scottsdale residents do for a living?

Scottsdale residents are more affluent than in other parts of the valley. They are more likely to have better jobs or be retired.

This is true. Scottsdale has this image of being full of rich people, and in the north part of the city, that's true. But there are all sorts of people living in Scottsdale, as it's a large area. There are many working class neighborhoods in the older central part of town, people doing all sorts of jobs.

Human services/social services type jobs, I would think, are few and far between in the Valley right now. I wish you luck, but be prepared for the very real possibility of a long search.
